April has two of dramatic presentations that will unfold and capture audiences at Chelmsford’s Cramphorn Studio.
‘Jane Eyre: An Autobiography’ kicks off the drama in April. Governess Jane Eyre and Master Edward Rochester take a dark journey towards sensual and intellectual liberation as they struggle to think, live and love beyond the over-powering expectations of duty, class and convention. Performer Rebecca Vaughan embodies Jane, and several other characters, in this tour-de-force. Presented by Dyad Productions, the show has been hailed as ‘a theatrical masterpiece’ by The Edinburgh Guide and Rebecca has been called ‘truly extraordinary…one of the most exciting young performers on the British Stage’ by the British Theatre Guide. Jane Eyre: An Autobiography will be on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 April at 8pm at The Cramphorn.
‘Guesthouse’ is a new play by Essex writer, Nicola Werenowska, and is produced by the well-respected Eastern Angles Theatre Company. Set in a family run guesthouse in Clacton, it examines how a grandmother, a mother and a daughter have to put their differences aside as the three generations decide on the fate of their guesthouse. The productions asks, what is it like when the town you were proud to have grown up in turns into an impoverished ghost town? What does it take to keep it going and what does it take to face the truth? The drama unfolds at The Cramphorn Studio on Tuesday 17 April at 8pm.
