“Whatever you do, don’t think about orange penguins!”

Multi-Awarding Winning Storyteller Robert Crighton is returning to his roots with a new collection of stories for 2011. Featuring his trademark wit and dark humour, Storyteller will draw you into unusual worlds and introduce you to people you’d not normally meet.
This first collection is called The Natural History of Trolls, three stories covering a hundred and fifty years of history, two Queens and their subjects in the fairy kingdom. Midst this epic timeline is the story of an ordinary commute gone wrong, when a troll-like tramp in an Underground carriage turns out to REALLY be a Troll.
Funny, thoughtful and with occasional attempts at wisdom, let Robert Crighton and his team of storytellers lead you through a world like ours – just a little off centre.

THE COMPANY: Milk Bottle Productions
Milk Bottle was founded in 2000 by Robert Crighton and has been performing a constant stream of small scale, high quality theatre productions. Robert Crighton is an award-winning storyteller, writer and performer, whose last big project was performing every Sherlock Holmes story back-to-back over the Christmas season. He is only entrant in the 25 year history of the Lost One-Act Festival to win three awards in successive years and is sadly no longer eligible to win anymore.
A LITTLE BACKGROUND
Storytelling has been expanding on the fringe circuit the last few years, possibly as a response to the financial climate – the number of performers can be limited to just one and the rehearsal time is significantly less than for drama. Milk Bottle has been storytelling for over ten years now, creating new and exciting stories as well as occasional trips into the world of Sherlock Holmes. Fresh from a number of sell out performances of the GhoStoryteller show, Milk Bottle returns to the Quay Theatre, Sudbury, prior to a six week run in London.
For this show writer and performer Robert has been embracing the new media available - broadcasting the process online in a series of video blogs on YouTube, covering the writing of the stories to the creation of an orange penguin, sometimes recording his blog live on stage during a show. Some of the cast were auditioned online and the whole show was given a tryout at the New Wimbledon Studio in July.
