With a sound that has been described as both beautiful and contemporary, The Willows intricately weave traditional and modern roots music within well-crafted songs, and over the last year, have supported the likes of Lau, Boo Hewerdine, Uiscedwr and Rory Mcleod.

The sell out crowd for their EP launch in early 2011 is indeed a sign of the bands growing popularity, and appearances to packed out crowds at Cambridge Folk Festival and Ely Folk Festival in the summer followed.

CoverFormed in the Spring of 2010, The Willows are a local 5 piece contemporary Folk/Roots band from Cambridgeshire. Their debut LP The Willows was released in late 2010, receiving an enthusiastic reception from the music press. Tracks from the release have been featured on Folk Radio UK and a number of BBC regional stations. The band also appeared on BBC Introducing Cambridgeshire for a live session in February 2011. They spent the Summer mostly writing, and began gigging extensively in the Autumn releasing their debut E.P. in February 2011. They then released their first single 'Absent Friends' from their forthcoming Album in November 2011, along with their debut music video, which you can view here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eF98lIrlvzc

" ... it was quite a brilliant set from The Willows that really brough the evening alive. It is easy to focus on the delightful vocals of the charming Jade Rhiannon, but equally important are some sharp arrangements of fiddle, cajon and acoustic guitar. The set was astutely paced, with the tempo upped at just the right moment, and a terrific climax with The Workers' War. The Willows are due for big success".
2011 Ely Folk Festival Review, Moving Tone

"The Willows quietly exuded talent and musical charm with warmth and assurance. Judging by this performance, they are ready for big success"
R Carrington, Moving Tone

“Beautiful...What a Band!”
