News: The future is bright for Radical Lounge

12/01/2012

RayonRadical Lounge was created from a vision fuelled by the love of music and boredom. Now that may sound a bit out of place but in fact it’s exactly as stated. During my last year at university one lonely, boring night I felt the urge to create something where ‘young people’ especially, can go to socialize in a positive environment and be inspired. So i got up from my bed and went straight to uni that night to plan, record ideas among other things.

Now the chance came to do something of my choice for my dissertation so i chose to include the first ever Radical lounge as a part of my work. I thought to myself,” if I make it my dissertation then i would have no choice but to do it otherwise I’ll fail my course and once something has started then it’s much easier to carry it on”.

The first event took a lot work but it was a great success as we managed to raise over £100 for YOUTH MUSIC Charity and witness an exception amount of local talent.

The Next 3 events Happen at Goals Soccer Centre and at Brazilia Café, and have become increasingly more popular since the first event in March 2011.

Now as a part of Growing we have recognized the huge potential of Radical lounge and have been developing it as a brand as well an event. Below is a brief description of our Services and who we are.

Radical Lounge is a new live music/ open mic event that promotes positive original material from acts such as singers, rappers, poets, artists and so on.

Primary Target

Primary target is young people aged from 16 to 30 years of age however on some occasions everyone over the age of 16 are welcome. There’s a lack of social activities in Ipswich for young people with a positive, enjoyable and inspiring environment. Radical Lounge aims to encourage and inspire local talent to share their creativity whether it is expressed in songs, poems or even art form.

Radical picAt Radical Lounge we target local business companies/ individuals to work with in terms of creating a more efficient service for our customers, promotional opportunities, investments/ sponsorship among others. Having the backing of other local businesses is important because it brings about unity, creates wider opportunities/ links and it conveys more awareness of Radical Lounge.

We aim to create bonding relationships with venue owners and local media sources such as BBC Suffolk Radio, Evening Star Newspaper, IP1 magazine, and ITV Anglia. Such strong relationships will not only enlarge the status of the Event but it will also bring new and potential customers.

Our Service

Our service is to provide a platform for artistic originality and to create a positive environment for local talent to grow and flourish. We also aim to enlighten the social aspect of our community and provide somewhere for young people to be inspired and entertained.

The Future

The future is bright for Radical Lounge. We have great plans to extend/ develop the vision further bringing true, inspiring talent to the surface of media attention. This year 2012 we’ve already started working with the likes of the student union at UCS and CSV Media. Please have a look at our facebook page for details on further events. Our next event is on the 2nd Feb at Malthouse (zest).

We are also looking for passionate/ hard working individuals to be a apart of this exciting project so please get in contact whether you want to support us by volunteering or sponsor us.
