10CC

One of the most influential and inventive bands in the UK whose music remains popular 40-plus years after release are heading back to Norwich Theatre Royal.

And 10CC’s visit to the city on April 9 has proved to be a hot ticket with only a handful of seats left for the concert, which is expected to showcase some of their biggest hits.

They are well-known for achieving commercial, critical and creative success, and are known to have influenced a number of top music artists and performers including Chrissie Hynde, Axl Rose, The Feeling’s Dan Gillespie and Sophie Ellis Bextor.

Their commercial success is incredible selling 15 million albums in the UK alone and getting ten songs into the Top 10. 10CC have also enjoyed three number one hits with Rubber Bullets, I’m Not In Love and Dreadlock Holiday.

The band’s co-founder Graham Gouldman believes it is down to the quality and longevity of the songs. He said: “They don’t seem to date. They are original. We never followed any trend. We simply wrote for our own pleasure. The fact that the songs are being played as often on the radio today as they ever were shows how true that is.”

Those joining Graham on stage in Norwich include drummer Paul Burgess who has been part of 10CC since the beginning and lead guitarist/vocalist Rick Fenn who joined the group in the mid-Seventies.

“The current band is as near as you are ever going to get to hearing the perfect 10CC. Hit after hit, it is relentless. We show no musical mercy,” said Graham.

10CC will be at the Norwich Theatre Royal on Sunday 9 April at 7.30pm. Tickets £8-£35, with Discounts for Friends. To book, log onto www.theatreroyalnorwich.co.uk or call the box office on 01603 630000.
