60s Hits & Laughter

Come and join OEP Live! at The Apex, Bury St Edmunds on Sunday 8th April, 1.30pm, for another 60s Hits and Laughter Matinee Special with three legendary 60s acts, including The Springfields, The Troggs and Herman’s Hermits.

The Penguin Encyclopedia of Popular Music states that The Springfields, jointly and separately, are probably responsible for more hits than any other British group, apart from The Beatles.

Mike Hurst has formed a new Springfields and together with Andy Marlow and Alice Pitt-Carter, they will give you an all hits set, taken from their huge back catalogue, which includes ‘Island Of Dreams’, ‘Silver Threads’, ‘I Only Want To Be With You’ and many more.

Who can forget ‘Wild Thing’ ? The Troggs have always been remembered for this 60s anthem, but it is just one of their many UK hits.

They have continued playing in their own uncompromising style of good basic rock music and still boast one of the original founder members – Chris Britton on lead guitar, who is now joined by Chris Allen, Pete Lucas and Dave Maggs.

The mid-60s music scene was dominated by British groups, three of which became household names – The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and… Herman’s Hermits, who are one of the most enduring and successful groups still travelling and working throughout the world.

The band has had over 23 top 20 single records, 10 hit albums, 3 major movies and countless concert tours all over the world. The ‘Golden Oldies’ still make up a large part of their show, including ‘Mrs Brown You’ve Got A Lovely Daughter’, ‘Silhouettes’, ‘Dandy’ and many more.
