A Musical Extravaganza At The Royal Hospital School

On Saturday 5th March 2016, over 150 pupils from The Royal Hospital School will be taking to the stage for the annual Gala Concert in aid of St Elizabeth Hospice, Cancer Research UK and several other worthwhile causes.

The evening is one of the school’s highlights of the year, and showcases the wealth of talent, musical diversity and incredibly high standards which are synonymous with the school.   From the serenity of sacred choral music to the shimmering strings of the school orchestra to the toe-tapping hits of Lennon and McCartney played by the school band, the evening promises to have something for everybody.

Year 12’s Ben Banks, who will be performing in no less than five ensembles, as well as playing the school’s recently Grade 1 listed organ, said:

“It’s such a great opportunity to show people what we do here at the Royal Hospital School – music is such a big part of school life.”

William Saunders, Director of Music, added:

“My colleagues and I are thrilled to be putting on such a great show – it promises to be the best Gala Concert yet, and the pupils have excelled themselves in rehearsals over the past weeks and months.  We would also like to thanks our very good friends at the East Anglia Daily Times who are very generously supporting this concert.”
