Addenbrookes Rocks!

I have to come clean – I have a soft spot for Cambridge Rock Festival.   I remember it when it was called something else entirely and once, in a different life altogether, I was responsible for the technology needed to have the show broadcast live on Radio Caroline.

Last year was odd, not having a CRF to go to but this year it is back and seems to have grown bigger and better.

An extra day has been added on Wednesday called Addenbrooke’s Rocks which is a charity fundraiser for Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT) .   One man who has good reason to be thankful of the work carried out by Addenbrookes is on the cover of this month’s Grapevine Magazine:  Mat Bayfield of The Broadside Boys.

Mat was diagnosed with a brain tumour three years ago and needed radiotherapy in an attempt to stop the growth of the tumour.  The treatment was successful but he still needs to go for regular check-ups.  He has good reason to be grateful to ACT for funding the MRI machines and by way of saying thank you The Broadside Boys will be performing at Addenbrook’s Rocks on Wednesday 3rd August.

It is not too late to buy tickets – click here.

Normal CRF service then continues from Thursday through to Sunday.   The campsite opens at 11am Wednesday 3rd August, with the arena opening at 5pm and the first act of Addenbrooke’s Rocks! kicking off at 5.30pm. Thursday 4th August – Sunday 7th August see’s the arena opening at 10.30am with the first acts kicking off at 11am each day.
