A member of legendary boyband Blue and former Walford resident Lee Ryan is on his way to Norwich Theatre Royal.
He is joining Louis Smith MBE, Rachel Stevens and Melody Thornton in the cast of jukebox theatre show Rip It Up The 70s when it comes to Norwich Theatre Royal on September 13.
The quartet will be bringing some of the biggest songs of the era to life with a feast of song-and-dance from the decade which spawned a host of iconic hits.
Rip It Up The 70s will feature the sounds of disco, glam rock, punk, funk, new wave and reggae, and also celebrate the fashion and style of the era including hot pants, flares, crop tops, jumpsuits, platform shoes, maxi-dresses and tartan suits.
Lee, who made his name as a member of the multi-platinum-selling band Blue before enjoying success as a solo artist, is looking forward to being part of the on-stage spectacular. He said: “I heard so much about the previous Rip It Up tours, as well as the show’s sell-out West End run, that the chance to sing so many classic Seventies songs in this amazing new production is something I am very much looking forward to.”
Joining Lee, who is also well-known from his role as Woody on the BBC’s soap hit EastEnders and for competing in Strictly Come Dancing, will be Peterborough sporting superstar Louis Smith MBE who shot to fame winning gymnastics medals at the Olympics in 2008, 2012 and 2016.
Louis is also no stranger to the Strictly dancefloor after winning the 2012 series, as well as the show’s 2014 Christmas special.
Rip It Up The 70s also features former S Club 7 star Rachel Stevens, who is also no stranger to Strictly, and Melody Thornton, who is a member of The Pussycat Dolls, starred in The Bodyguard on stage, and has appeared on TV shows including Celebs Go Dating and Celebrity Juice. Melody said: “Singing, dancing, Seventies pop culture and fashions are lifelong passions of mine so I jumped at the chance to appear in this show.
“I am excited to show UK audiences exactly what I can do. I can’t wait to be part of what is going to be the most exhilarating show and an amazing tour with such a mind-blowing soundtrack.”
Rip It Up The 70s is at the Norwich Theatre Royal on Friday 13 September at 7.30pm. Tickets £10-£40.50. Discounts for Friends.
