The actor, who has charmed Norwich audiences, performed iconic roles penned by the Bard and been the face of international fashion houses is set to share his story in an intimate evening of conversation for a very good cause.
David Gant is set to share the story of his career on and off stage in a specially-created blend of performance and chat at The Garage on 16 January, at 8.30pm entitled ‘Sixty Minutes (plus 10%) of David Gant’
All the proceeds will go to The Garage Trust, which supports the organisation’s charitable work and in particular their work with older people, which is something that is very important to David.
He said: “I wanted to support the charity because I am 77-years-old and an old-age pensioner myself. I am lucky as I have my health, but there are others who are not as fortunate as I and they need our help.
“I performed my first one-man show at The Garage and it seems a fitting time to perform solo again to support the charity in its important work.”
Adam Taylor, CEO of The Garage, said “We’re really proud to be offering this event of our stage. David is a long standing advocate of our charity and we feel very humbled that he has chosen to donate all the proceeds from the performance to support the work of The Garage.”
The show itself will encompass the wide range of work that David has been involved in. It will dip into his Shakespearean body of work which includes King Lear, Coriolanus and The Tempest through to his love of pantomime. He will also be peppering the evening with a host of anecdotes drawn from his long career in show-business and will take questions from the audience.
David has enjoyed a long career performing on stage for the likes of the Manchester Royal Exchange, Chichester Festival Theatre, the Royal Court Theatre and West Yorkshire Playhouse. He is no stranger to the small screen, having appeared in a host of TV shows including Holby City, Inspector Morse, Jane Eyre, Crackanory, The Last Kingdom and My Family And Other Animals. His movie credits include Gandhi, Braveheart, Victor-Victoria, Wish You Were Here and Bad Education The Movie.
He has also worked worldwide as a fashion model and is a Patient Ambassador for MediCinema, which gives hospital patients the opportunity to see films during their treatment and recovery.
David said: “I have been fortunate to have had a busy and varied acting career so far, working with many directors on many projects across many continents. I am looking forward to sharing my story with an audience and taking questions from them too. Nothing – well, almost nothing – is off limits.”
All the proceeds from the evening will be donated to The Garage Charitable Trust to help fund projects with older people. This includes a choir with those living with dementia and their family, alongside dance, theatre and singing classes for older people.
