Before we even arrived at the races I was already impressed with the slick organisation surrounding this unforgettable day. I was in a group of eighteen and we managed to very easily negotiate the shuttle bus facility from Newmarket town centre.

Once there, the day got off to a happy start with a very friendly greeting at the entrance. It wasn’t my first time visiting Newmarket Races, however the vast and beautiful grounds never fail to amaze me!

As we got there at around 4pm, it did end up being a long day but, luckily, there was an enormous variety of food to choose from and I opted for a mouth-watering chicken wrap. Although the queues for all of the options were long, they were moving very fast and I was grateful to be enjoying my food within five minutes.

After tucking in, we tried out some of the different drink choices and, losing a few of the races, it was time to head over to the main stage to find somewhere to enjoy the fabulous music of pop star Anne-Marie.

Although the crowds started flooding into the main arena at this stage, I never felt unsafe or over-peopled throughout the whole day – it was an added bonus that everyone that I was surrounded by seemed to be so friendly and absolutely lovely.

So to Anne-Marie… What can I say, she was amazing, so bubbly and played some new and current songs which definitely got the crowd going! She was so engaging with the audience that it was impossible to not enjoy yourself. The environment was positively buzzing, and we all had our dancing shoes on regardless of the wide range of ages who had come to see her.

It’s safe to say that I loved every single second of my day and I cannot wait to go again!
