Bill Turnbull Joins Suffolk Philharmonic Orchestra Mother’s Day Concert

Former BBC Breakfast presenter Bill Turnbull to play story-teller in a family musical treat, Mothers’ Day 2020.

SUFFOLK PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA, working with Ipswich Borough Council, will present a Mother’s Day musical treat, Peter and the Wolf, on Sunday 22nd March 2020 at the Ipswich Corn Exchange, featuring former BBC presenter Bill Turnbull.

Peter and the Wolf is a musical story for children, with different instruments for the different characters, written by the Russian composer Serge Prokofiev. The main theme, representing Peter, was the theme tune of the TV programme Zoo Time in the 1960s.

The conductor of Suffolk Philharmonic Orchestra, Leslie Olive, has said “the Mother’s Day concert is a cascade of famous tunes, including the William Tell Overture, which the grandparent generation will know as the Lone Ranger theme. And for a lighter moment, the trumpeter who recorded the Antiques Roadshow theme, Crispian Steele-Perkins, will play a tune on a length of garden hose.

Mothers’ Day in 2020 is Sunday 22nd March, and tickets are expected to sell quickly. Leslie Olive comments “The whole family will enjoy this attractive musical celebration, and tickets at Early Bird prices make an easy but brilliant Christmas present”.
