Bourgeouis & Maurice Head To Norwich

Self-confessed sassy satirical sequin-loving duo Bourgeois And Maurice are on their way to Norwich promising to make us all think about the meaning of life.

Using a mix of hyper-glamour and pitch-black comedy, they will be examining where we are, where we have been and what lies ahead for us.

The show, which comes to Norwich Playhouse on September 27, aims to be a mix of current affairs, moral confusion and slippery social commentary.

Bourgeois And Maurice are known for being one of the most popular acts on London’s alternative scene.

They gave their first performance in 2007 and have since toured the world from Belgrade to New York. They have also performed at the likes of the Royal Opera House, Southbank Centre and Sadler’s Wells, and appear regularly at London’s Soho Theatre.

Bourgeois and Maurice have also produced and toured seven full-length theatre shows plus released four albums and co-written songs with electronic music act Joe & Will Ask, and drag pioneer and Norwich Playhouse favourite Jonny Woo.

In addition, they won a commission from Home – the Manchester-based internationally-acclaimed home of contemporary art, film and music – to create a new show to be premiered next year.

John Bultitude, of Norwich Playhouse, said: “Bourgeois and Maurice are definitely darlings of the indie-cabaret scene and are a key part of the modern music hall experience.

“Outrageous and proudly political, this is a duo who proudly mix sequins and satire for a show you will never forget.”

Bourgeois & Maurice, Friday 27 September at 8pm. Tickets £14. Suitable for 16+.
