BurySOUND Final 2018

The last heat of BurySOUND 2018 took place at The Hunter Club in Bury St Edmunds last Friday (23rd February), with ABBEY GREEN, THE CATCH, EEEYORE, INFLUX OF INSANITY, KULK and guest headliners A HORSE CALLED WAR playing amazing heats to a packed-out room.

Once again, the judges had the unenviable task of choosing just one heat winner, but in the end Cambridge-based progressive metal twosome INFLUX OF INSANITY were named Heat Five winners, and will now join Heat One winners ORGAN OF CORTI, Heat Two winners KYANOS, Heat Three winners INDECISION, Heat Four winners KELODOWN and special guest headliners TUNDRA (winners of BurySOUND 2017) at Bury St Edmunds megavenue The Apex on Friday 9th March for the Grand Final.

Doors for the Final open at 6pm, all ages are welcome (under-14s must be accompanied by a parent or carer), and tickets are only £5 from 01284 758 000 / www.theapex.co.uk

This year is BurySOUND’s 20th Anniversary.  When Jackie Smith and Paul Johnson started the competition back in 1998, there were only a handful of local bands playing their own material; fast forward 20 years and we had almost 50 artists vying for the 25 available slots, which in itself is a testament to how the scene has grown.  Numbers aside, the sheer quality of music at this year’s BurySOUND has been absolutely staggering, and underlined what an amazing grassroots, DIY scene East Anglia currently has.
