Crooner, noun; a singer, typically a male one, who sings sentimental songs in a soft low voice…
Crooners, the Show: three self-assured gentlemen of style and vigour, who swing the hell out of the music of The Rat Pack with a live 9-piece band and a splendiferously British injection of comedy…
The Crooners, at The Apex on 27 April, follows the story of three very British gentlemen who exhume the characteristics of a crooner; suave, self-assured and stylish. But this modern world is not always the place for men of style and vigour. Men with a penchant for sentiment, romance and charm. Men who own tap shoes.
With its tongue firmly in its cheek, Crooners is a rip roaring comedy musical with an outrageous injection of Big Band Swing, which has been wowing audiences throughout the UK: “An absolutely amazing show, and a band full of truly amazing musicians. Incredible” (Guy Garvey, Elbow)
Fronted by three of the finest crooners of today and backed by the outstanding live musicianship of The Mini Big Band, the show is full of satirical energy, hilarious one liners, laugh out loud silliness and superb musical numbers from some of the greatest crooners of all time: Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Matt Monro, Nat King Cole and more.
Enjoy quintessential songs, such as ‘Lady is a Tramp’, ‘Come Fly With Me’, ‘L.O.V.E’, ‘When You’re Smiling’, ‘Fly Me To The Moon’ and ‘Mac The Knife’, in a two-hour spectacular will have you laughing, singing and smiling from ear to ear!
Crooners is at The Apex in Bury St Edmunds on Friday 27 April at 7.30pm. Tickets are £22, ring the box office on 01284 758000 or see www.theapex.co.uk for details.
