LOTS OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE TO GET DANCING THIS AUTUMN!
This autumn DanceEast has numerous workshops and performances lined up for ages ranging from 3 years up to 16 years, all taking place in the Jerwood DanceHouse. The activities begin with our treasured tots disco at Baby Loves to Boogie on Sunday 29 October. Not only will this include disco fun and a creative crafts area, there will also be a performance of The Seedling by local dance artists Karen Louise Dance and Anna Rowe Dance. This is most suitable for under 5 years and their families and only costs £3 per child or £12 per family (maximum 4 people, 2 adults).
For older children, Saturday 4 November brings an exciting opportunity to learn movement material from Fagin’s Twist by Avant Garde Dance. Artists from the company will lead a workshop before performing in the theatre later in the afternoon, which can be enjoyed by the whole family. This workshop is best suited to children of 11 – 16 years, with some prior dance experience.
Ojo Productions presents a workshop to explore the story of the much-loved classic, The Borrowers, on Saturday 16 December. Focusing on movement, animation and music, this workshop is perfect for ages 7 – 11 years who want to imagine life as one of these tiny people under the floorboards. The Borrowers is DanceEast’s Christmas show for 2017 and will be showing from 13 – 17 December.
The opportunities DanceEast offers for young people extend past this season’s workshops. DanceEast holds regular dance classes during term time for a variety of ages and abilities. These are a great way to make friends, improve confidence and stay active throughout the year.
If dancing becomes a keen interest, DanceEast classes can be more than weekly sessions. They can be fun commitments, which could lead into joining DanceEast’s performance groups, or for particularly talented individuals, the DanceEast Centre for Advanced Training.
