Here Come The Boys

Strictly Come Dancing professional dancers Aljaž Škorjanec, Giovanni Pernice and Gorka Marquez have announced they will perform a 38-date UK tour together throughout June and July 2019 in a spectacular new show called Here Come The Boys.

This is the show that everyone has been calling out for. Out to demonstrate why they are considered the rock stars of dance, Aljaž, Giovanni and Gorka will have audiences out of their seats when they feast on the visual delights the boys have in store.

Here Come The Boys will be like no other Strictly show; in a club setting, the show’s live resident DJ will spin a cutting-edge soundtrack of dance-floor anthems, club classics and guilty pleasures whilst Aljaž, Giovanni and Gorka go head-to-head in a battle of Latin, Ballroom, Commercial and Contemporary dance disciplines – with the audience judging the contest each night. In addition, the show will feature live vocals from Elizabeth Troy (formerly with Clean Bandit).

From the producers of the smash-hit dance shows Rip it Up and Remembering Fred, Here Come The Boys is directed and choreographed by Gareth Walker and co-choreographed by Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Janette Manrara.

The tour begins on 15th June and ends on 28th July, including a matinée and evening performance at London’s Adelphi Theatre on 14th July. Additional matinée performances will take place at The Theatre Royal in Newcastle (Sunday, 23rd June), The Forum Theatre in Bridlington (Sunday, 10th July), The Octagon Theatre in Yeovil (Sunday, 21st July), The Theatre Royal in Brighton (Sunday, 26th July) and Cliff’s Pavilion in Southend (Sunday, 28th July).

A nineteen-time Slovenian champion in Ballroom, Latin and Ten Dance, Aljaž Škorjanec became an instant hit on his Strictly debut in 2013 when he partnered model and TV presenter Abbey Clancy to lift the coveted Glitterball Trophy. Having appeared in every series since, Aljaž and his partner, actress Gemma Atkinson, were runners-up in the 2017 final.

Aljaž said, “Having worked on Strictly Come Dancing with Gorka and Giovanni for the past four years, I know we are going to deliver a truly incredible show for audiences all over the UK. And while we might all be the best of friends, the show’s competitive element means that there will be no love lost when we battle it out on the dance floor to win the audience vote. Serious bragging rights are at stake!”

Before making his Strictly debut in 2016, Spanish superstar Gorka Marquez represented Spain in the World Latin Championships in 2010, reaching the semi-finals of the 2012 WDSF World Cup and then, in 2014, touring the world in the smash-hit dance show Burn The Floor.

Affectionately nicknamed ‘Gorka the corka’ by the British public, he partnered the singer and actress Alexandra Burke all the way to the 2017 Strictly final, where, along with Aljaž and Gemma Atkinson, they finished as runners-up to Joe McFadden and Katya Jones.

Gorka said, “The team behind Here Come The Boys are renowned for producing amazing shows, so I didn’t have to think twice about joining the tour. To be touring with Aljaž and Giovanni – not only two fantastic dancers but two of my best mates – is the icing on the cake. Gareth Walker and our fellow Strictly pro dancer Janette Manrara are both amazing choreographers, so we know they’ll be pushing us hard to bring out the very best from myself and the boys. We look forward to seeing everybody on the dance-floor.”

With four series of Strictly Come Dancing under his belt, Sicily-born Giovanni Pernice has proved to be a huge hit with the viewing public, making it to the final on three occasions with his celebrity dance partners; Coronation Street actress Georgia May Foote (2015), television, radio and stage performer Debbie McGee (2017), and Steps singer Faye Tozer (2018).

Giovanni is also the current Guinness World Record holder for Jive kicks and flicks, performing 55 in 30 seconds in a challenge held on Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two, with supervision by Guinness World Records.

Giovanni said, “I am so excited to be starring in Here Come The Boys with Aljaž and Gorka, two of the world’s greatest dancers. It really is a dream team scenario for all of us. I also know Aljaž and Gorka will really want to beat me, as they both secretly know I’m the best dancer. I can’t wait to be crowned champion every single night!”
