The last time these boys step foot in Colchester they were on their “Dream Boys” tour back in 2010, and I remember not being able to go. Since then my love for Don Broco has just gotten stronger. Their 2013 London Roundhouse show, which I did get to see, was amazing! They are now back two years later with their follow up album to “Priorities” entitled “Automatic”. This has been a long time coming but the wait has been worth it. Automatic’s release was an interesting one on social media, the band put up teasers of tracks a week before the official release back in August.

“Light You Up” were the solo support act at the Colchester Arts Centre. Hailing from Birmingham they produce an interesting style of music from alt rock to folk rock.   I’d not heard of them before now but for a support act I thought they done the slot justice. Good and impressive up beat tracks mixed with a couple of slow ones. The crowd really liked them even though few had heard of them before this gig.   Some new fans made and I would happily go to one of their shows. I was impressed.

With this show at sold out status, Colchester Arts Centre was flooded with eagerly awaiting fans of Don Bronco, and they were not disappointed from the first song through to the last the room was alive and pumped up to the unique sound that Don Broco deliver.

Although this intimate tour was to promote the new album “Automatic”, they played a great set list with singles such as Automatic, Superlove and Fire as well as songs from “Priorities” and the real old stuff and a ultimate classic “Thug Work Out” which got the crowd rocking out the hardest.

I took some injuries in the pit with Rob – lead singer announcing that fans should freely crowd surf, which had me stuck in the press pit with fans surfing towards the front and although I got kicked in the head a couple of times it was worth being there helping fans and taking photos of the chaotic scenes. I love the energy and enthusiasm that the band displays – you can see for yourself if you attend one of their shows.

I would highly recommend anyone who hasn’t heard of Don Broco to go check out their music. The next opportunity to see them live will be December 2015 when they play the O2 Academy Brixton in London.  I can’t wait to see them again in December and really get involved in atmosphere that they bring to all of their shows!
