This years event has already confirmed Will Champion (Coldplay) and drummers from Duran Duran, Stormzy, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Kasabian, IDLES, Fontaines D.C., Simple Minds, Girls Aloud, Jamiroquai, The Kooks and many, many others.

Founders are Errol Kennedy, drummer from the multi-platinum 80s band Imagination and his wife, Bev Sage, of 80s groups Techno Twins and Modern Romance; and the event is being produced by local Coddenham-based, Tom Bryant.

Errol Kennedy will kickoff DrumathonLIVE’s #drum4mentalhealth from London introducing 7 days/264 hours of non-stop drumming by some of the world’s top drummers – it will be a global extravaganza where the batons are passed virtually around the world as each drummer plays their part to raise money for mental health. Due to COVID-19 and the mental health impacts of lockdown on the nation, this year all fundraising goes to five UK mental health charities: Mind, Anna Freud Centre, Child Bereavement UK, UK Trauma Council and NHS Charities Together.

Messages of support will be streamed during our event from celebrities such as Riz Ahmed, recently nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for the film Sound of Metal.

Tom Bryant, Producer commented ‘The effects of COVID and lockdown on our nation’s mental health have been devastating. Being a part of such a global event, much of which is organised from my own home outside Ipswich due to lockdown, has been a real honour. It’s incredible the cast of drummers, artists, celebrities and charities who have all come together to raise vital funding and to #drum4mentalhealth.’

The Drumathon will officially launch on Saturday, May 15th at 10am with continuous, live-streamed drumming until Saturday, May 22nd at 10pm. The event finishes off with a special live-streamed show of celebration, celebrity and charity interviews, musical guests and much more!
