Feelin’ Supersonic – Brickmakers, Norwich – 16th June 24

On Sunday, June 16th, ‘This is Music’ will be presenting ‘Feelin’ Supersonic’, a live music event showcasing fresh UK guitar music reminiscent of the 90s greats. Not only will attendees be treated to a day of incredible music, but they will also be contributing to a worthy cause, as the event is in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.

The event will feature a lineup of twenty-one acts spread across three stages at The Brickmakers in Norwich, utilising the main room, the B2 venue, and an outside acoustic stage. With tickets priced at just £12 for adults and £6 for those under 18, it’s an absolute bargain. Additionally, food trucks will be available throughout the day to ensure everyone is fed, while the pub itself will be serving refreshing beverages and making sure everyone is watered.

Bands from all corners of the UK, including music hubs like Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, and Edinburgh, will be gracing the stage in Norwich. Marseille, the final act of the day in the Brickie’s main room, will deliver a captivating blend of Madchester grooves, 90s shoegaze sonics, and 60s-style melodies. Their latest single ‘Monkey in the Middle’ has received recognition from Steve Lamacq on 6Music, solidifying their status as ones to watch.

Closing out the day in the B2 venue will be the Scottish sensation, The Castros. Over the past year, the band has released seven singles, showcasing their versatility by seamlessly blending the sounds of 90s Britpop. Rocking and grooving in equal measure.

Among the other highlights is Another Day, an exhilarating live act that effortlessly combines punk and Mod influences – think Ash fighting with The Jam and that will get you pretty close to their style. Making waves with a Camden residency over the past year, they’ve garnered a dedicated following solely through their electrifying live performances. The Turncoats from Leeds have quietly built up a set of classic-sounding songs in recent months, drawing inspiration from the classics of the 60s and 70s. Pure class songwriting and playing.

Other bands throughout the day include Juvenal, Charm, The Social Club, Violet Club, Deshine, The Cherry Apes, and The Shore who will remind you that the UK still holds the torch for melody and great songs. Be warned; You will definitely go away humming some tunes.

Taking things in a psychedelic direction across various genres such as dance, post-punk, noise-pop, and pure psych-pop are four acts from different parts of the country: My Dreaming Hill, Primaveras, Repose, and Happy Neighbours. All will reignite your faith in The UK guitar scene and leave you wanting more.

Outside at the acoustic stage will be a host of local acts to keep you entertained in the sunshine (hopefully), including Lowestoft’s Ryan Redwood with his post-Britpop influenced sound, Hammeta and their neo-folk, Lara Price with her grunge guitar songs, Amy Reeve and her alt-pop acoustic style and finally UEA student India Yates who has a west coast Americana tinge to her tunes.

‘Feelin’ Supersonic’ promises to be a feast of exceptional new music spanning the entire country. This unique event in Norwich not only offers a fantastic musical experience but also supports an important cause.
