Folk Music at The Apex

by | Apr 14, 2026 | Music

Folk music remains a popular genre of music at The Apex. Tickets for Kate Rusby on 12 May have already sold out, while there are a handful of tickets left for The Fureys on 13 May.

Perhaps less well known on this side of the Irish Sea, Dervish are a celebrated band in their home country and havewon BBC Folk Awards’ prestigious ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ as “an icon of Irish music”.

Fronted by Cathy Jordan – one of the most distinctive voices in Irish traditional music today – the band includes some of Ireland’s finest traditional musicians playing fiddle, flute, bouzouki, mandola, bodhran and accordion. They marry technical brilliance with a sensibility born of an understanding of the music and their many years of playing together.

Renowned for their live performances, which match dazzling sets of tunes with stunning interpretations of traditional songs, they were the first Irish band to play the world’s biggest music festival, Rock in Rio.

Dervish play The Apex on Thursday 7 May at 7.30pm

Scottish band, Skipinnish encompass the very best of contemporary Celtic music with their unique and sublime self-penned songs and powerful bagpipe, fiddle and accordion-led tune sets.

Their anthemic songs have given them a track record of hits and sell-out shows across Scotland’s biggest and best music venues, putting them at the very top of Scotland’s vibrant Celtic Music scene.

Skipinnish are at The Apex on Saturday 9 May at 7.30pm.
