Fred’s House

Having released two critically acclaimed albums (2014’s debut, Bonnie & Clyde, followed by the sublime Faultlines in 2016), Cambridge folk-rockers Fred’s House will be taking a little time out in October from recording their hotly anticipated third album to head over to China.

The band: Vikki Gavin, Griff Jameson, Gafyn Jameson, Lachlan Golder and Paul Richards, will be heading over to the Nanjing International Jazz and World Music Festival for which they’ll play a 15 show tour at theatres across the Jiangsu province and Nanjing city. The festival itself, now in its 16th year, showcases world, folk, jazz and blues music with bands from all over the globe travelling to China to enlighten the cultural life of the citizens in a celebration called ‘Joy in Jiangsu’.

Although regularly on tour around the UK, the chance to head to the other side of the world to play this spectacular event is a fantastic opportunity for the band to showcase their harmony-driven tracks to a much wider audience, helping them to build a following much beyond their homeland.

Invited to perform by the famous Erhu (Chinese violin) player Professor Dong Jinming after impressing at a Chinese New Year gala performance in Cambridge earlier this year, the popular quintet will head to Nanjing in October – shortly after a run of UK summer shows.

With album number three imminent, there’s a real sense that one of the region’s hardest-working bands are set to gain a whole new audience, adding yet more adventure to their already illustrious six-year career as a group.
