Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds is delighted to welcome internationally-acclaimed Coloratura Soprano Christina Johnson to the stage on Sunday 30th May.
A private concert with Christina was auction lot 133 in the Made In Suffolk Legacy Auction organised by Suffolk Charity GeeWizz which raised an incredible and life-changing £500,000 for children and young people, across East Anglia, with disabilities and life-limiting illness.
One of the successful bids came from the Hon Mr & Mrs Ben Fisher who secured the Christina event and promptly donated it to Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds where Mrs Emma Fisher is on the Board of Trustees.
This fundraising event will feature Mozart to Puccini, arias to take you on a journey through opera from around the world. Christina will be singing some of the most difficult arias written including the highest aria written for soprano. Queen of the Night from Mozart’s Magic Flute to the dazzling character Mimi from Puccini’’s Gianni Schicchi all within the intimacy of Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds.
Award-winning, internationally-acclaimed Coloratura Soprano Christina Johnston, born in Framlingham, Suffolk, and recently returned from making her name in Europe, will be accompanied by pianist William Saunders (Head of Music at St Edmundsbury Cathedral). William is one of Britain’s leading young concert organists, with an extensive schedule that includes many distinguished venues across Europe.
This special event is part of Theatre Royal’s grand reopening after 14 months of closure and guests will receive a glass of Prosecco and a souvenir programme on arrival.
