Galen & Paul Breathe New Life into Rock and Roll

Galen & Paul – brainchild of the legendary ex-Clash bassist Paul Simonon – have emerged as a refreshing and powerful force and are looking forward to their performance at Red Rooster Festival, which rolls into Thetford at the end of this month.

Paul Simonon is a name that needs little introduction. As the bassist for The Clash, Simonon played a pivotal role in shaping the sound of punk rock. His aggressive, dub-inspired playing style and iconic stage presence made him a legend in his own right.

After The Clash, Simonon continued to explore different musical avenues, including his work with The Good, The Bad & The Queen. “The Clash was a defining part of my life, but I’ve always wanted to explore different sounds and styles,” Paul says. “It’s about growing as an artist and finding new ways to express myself.”

Galen & Paul brings together a unique blend of musical styles, backgrounds, and influences, resulting in a sound that is both innovative and deeply rooted in rock traditions.

Their debut album ‘Can we do tomorrow’ received critical acclaim and their follow up EP ‘Uno Más’ demonstrates that this is an act that has a very real future.

The formation of Galen & Paul is a story of serendipity and mutual admiration. The two artists met through mutual friends in the music scene and quickly discovered a shared passion for blending diverse musical styles.

Galen Ayers is no stranger to the music industry. The daughter of the legendary Kevin Ayers of Soft Machine fame, Galen has been surrounded by music her entire life. “Growing up, music was always a part of my life,” Galen says. “It’s like a language I’ve always spoken, thanks to my dad and his incredible influence.”

Adding to their growing list of accolades and milestones, the duo are set to perform at the prestigious Red Rooster Festival next month. Held from May 30th to June 1st at Euston Hall, Suffolk, the festival is renowned for its celebration of roots, Americana, and rock ‘n’ roll.

The lineup boasts an impressive array of artists – including Asleep at the Wheel and Robert Finlay – and Galen & Paul’s performance is highly anticipated.

“We’re thrilled to be playing at Red Rooster,” said Simonon. “It’s a festival that really celebrates the kind of music we love, and we can’t wait to share our new songs with everyone there. I’ve heard it’s set in extremely beautiful grounds and is known for its family-friendly atmosphere.

“Performing live is where the magic happens. The energy from the audience feeds into our performance, and it creates an unforgettable experience. You’ll get to see and hear that at the Red Rooster Festival. We’ll see you all there. Buy your tickets!”
