Geordie Starlet Set to Sing in Bury St Edmunds

Joe McElderry is the X Factor golden boy with the 24-carat voice and the diamond personality which made him one of the most loved young singers in the country.

At just 18 years old he auditioned for ITV’s X Factor and bowled the judges over with his rendition of Luther Vandross’ ‘Dance with My Father’.  Joe cemented his place in the nation’s hearts after Cheryl Cole nurtured the shy, good natured lad from South Shields and turned him into an overnight sensation. Joe also impressed Whitney Houston who appeared as a guest mentor. And he performed a brilliant duet with George Michael on the live semi-final and went on to be crowned the winner of X Factor 2009 by a clear majority.

After wowing the audience with his dazzling vocals, modesty and charm, he soared straight to number one with a beautiful rendition of Miley Cyrus’ ‘The Climb’. Soon after came his first studio album ‘Wide Awake’; an exciting mix of up-tempo songs and powerful ballads.

Joe was the winner of the second series of Popstar to Operastar in 2011 and the first series of The Jump in 2014. His fifth studio album, ‘Saturday Night at the Movies’, features a collection of songs from films and musicals.

In 2015, McElderry played the lead role of Joseph in Joseph and His Technicolour Dreamcoat where he received some excellent reviews:

McElderry “may just be the best sung Joseph there’s ever been, bringing a vocal flair to Joseph that’s utterly ravishing” – Mark Shenton, The Stage.

“On Close Every Door he completely takes over, his voice filled with emotion and absolutely soaring; he has the audience breathless. He has made it his own and I can’t imagine anyone performing it better.” – John Wood, North West End.

2019 saw Joe starring in the touring 80’s musical, Club Tropicana, playing lead role, Garry. It was a huge success and was the first time that Joe had played a comedy role.

With suitcases of innuendo, a stage presence that lights up the stage and very impressive comic timing, Joe has an absolute ball on stage and songs like Just Can’t Get Enough and Relax show off his voice perfection” – The Chronicle.

Joe McElderry is at The Apex on Sunday 26 September at 7.30pm, see www.theapex.co.uk or ring 01284 758 000 for more information or to book tickets.
