John Ward Trio on Tour

Following the difficult days of Covid, John Ward and his Trio are back on the road and playing concerts again. Having just performed in Devon, Teeside, Lincolnshire, Herefordshire, Cambridgeshire and, of course, their native East Anglia, they have concerts coming up in West Sussex, Berkshire, Birmingham, Worcestershire, North Yorkshire and Suffolk.

John has released eight albums in the last thirty years, toured the U.K, and shared stages with or supported among others Dick Gaughan, Bill Wyman, Martin Carthy, Vin Garbutt, John Otway, Dave Swarbrick, The Strawbs, and Alan Stivell.

He has released a book of his poetry titled the Iron Bridge, set up the not for profit organisation Broad Roots to promote Folk and Roots music in Suffolk, run stages at Folk East and other festivals in the East, and has a love of nature and conservation, something that feeds into many of his lyrics.

Work is underway on not just one, but two new CDs, to add to John’s previous eight album releases, and look out for another book release later this year as John develops his latest musical and spoken word project with Arts Council funding.

John’s extended band will be opening The First Light Festival at 12 noon on 18th June on the beach at Lowestoft to celebrate the summer solstice. Joined by classical singers and musicians, community choirs and school children, the band will perform an ambitious arrangement of The Light Returns, John’s song for Lowestoft, commissioned by First Light Festival. In 2019 the inaugural twenty-four-hour First Light Festival attracted 30,000 people.
