Historic Suffolk Theatre Gets the Backing of National Treasure

National treasure and superstar of stage, film and television, Dame Judi Dench pledges her support for the Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds.

Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds is an absolute gem and it must be preserved for generations to come – a magical place with its historic auditorium and rich heritage – please stand with us and support this emergency appeal if you can.

Dame Judi Dench

Dame Judi is a life patron of Theatre Royal and was a Patron of the Restoration Appeal between 2005 and 2007, during which her love and support for the theatre helped the theatre to raise money for this highly successful capital campaign.

Dame Judi performed in the 2005 Restoration Gala with Sir Ian McKellen and Timothy West – she and Sir Ian performed the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet together as part of that unforgettable evening in Bury St Edmunds.
