Out There Festival 2025

Out There Festival 2025 is set to be the UK’s biggest outdoor arts festival boasting an incredible lineup of 60+ artists, 18 world premieres and 17 international performances plus many shows produced by local people in Great Yarmouth.  

The highly anticipated line-up is set to return to the seaside town from May 28th to May 31st 2025, promising an extraordinary weekend of outdoor arts, circus and cultural celebration.  

Now in its 17th year, the popular festival continues to bring together local and world-class talent, making it one of the most thrilling arts events in the UK.

Joe Mackintosh, Artistic Director of Out There Festival said: “This year’s festival promises an extraordinary celebration of creativity, innovation, and entertainment, delivering a one-of-a-kind experience for audiences of all ages. Many events are free or donation-based, while others are ticketed—visitors are urged to come enjoy and support however they can!”

Top Free Festival Highlights

Beach of Dreams Village and Beach of Dreams (28-31 May) – A national community project led by Kinetika and supported by Historic England, this immersive experience will take visitors on a guided journey through Great Yarmouth’s rich heritage. Beginning at the Ice House and culminating in a stunning display of 800 flags on the beach, the project weaves together local stories, memories, and landmarks, bringing history to life.

Big Wolf Company – Three Sisters (30-31 May): A witty circus performance inspired by Estonian marriage traditions and women’s role in society.

Darryl J Carrington – Out of the Box (29-31 May): This family-friendly comedy show devised in Great Yarmouth is packed with surprises as an unlikely character and his mysterious box take you on a whirlwind of wonder. Darryl’s mission: to make you the star of the show in this celebration of play. 

Justice in Motion – CODE (29-31 May) This spectacular production thrusts audiences into the raw realities faced by young people exploited by organised drug crime gangs. More than just a show, CODE is a wake-up call—a daring, adrenaline-fuelled journey that brings these critical issues into sharp focus.

Many Hands Circus Obscure Desires (29 May) This visually stunning production communicates through a powerful blend of movement and music. ‘Obscure Desires’ creates an inclusive experience that speaks to all audiences through relatable imagery.

The African Choir of Norfolk (31 May) – Led by the inspirational Zimbabwean singer Anna Mudeka, The African Choir of Norfolk provides listeners with a truly unique experience of the great continent through song.

Tiny Productions, the world’s smallest nightclub, The Miniscule of Sound (29-31 May)  A gentle parody of the ubiquitous mega-club dance scene, the dinky micro boîte disco features all your rave party needs in a box not much bigger than your wardrobe – with lights, lasers, in-house DJs and an intimate two square metre Saturday Night Fever disco dancefloor, bathed in smoke and good times.

International Highlights

Solarte Producciones – SIKU.  This will be the first show at the historic Ice House on May 30th .https://outtherearts.org.uk/events/jessica-arpin-siku/  Look out for the circus polar bear as they journey through the age of polar exploration.

La Mecànica – A Teen Odyssey https://outtherearts.org.uk/events/la-mecanica-a-teen-odyssey/.  St George’s Theatre will host and immersive theatre experience and digital technology to create an unforgettable journey exploring themes of personal identity, intergenerational connection and how we find our tribes.

Underclouds Cie – INERTIE https://outtherearts.org.uk/events/underclouds-cie-inertie/ An outdoor performance of circus with a stranded spinning top set in motion by two tightrope walkers.

Darryl J Carrington – Out of the Box.    https://outtherearts.org.uk/events/darryl-j-carrington-out-of-the-box-2/  This family-friendly comedy show is packed with surprises – every time the box opens it’s a new adventure!

Vanhulle Dance Theatre – ORB https://outtherearts.org.uk/events/vanhulle-dance-theatre-orb/  ORB is a mythological dance duet that ignites cosmos.  ORB weaves together explosive physicality, breath-taking partner work and martial arts-inspired movements.

Matthew Harrison – Actual Reality Arcade.  Matthew was born and raised in Great Yarmouth.  His production returns after touring around Europe and the UK.  Experience the joy of playing for real in life-sized versions of classic arcade games.

Jones & Barnard – Dream Tours has been made in consultation with the Great Yarmouth community and it will feature local volunteers in the performance.  Join the walking tour sensation!
