Inaugural Suffolk Proms Series in Felixstowe

For the first time, this year, The Spa Pavilion in Felixstowe is thrilled to be hosting a series of events which form their very own ‘Suffolk Proms 2022’ concert series. Taking place a week after the Last Night of the BBC Proms, The Spa will draw inspiration from their wide range of events.

Commencing on Sunday 18th September, with ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ legend, Vincent Simone, and partner Paula Duarte, ‘Tango Passions’ will take you on a journey of sensual dance at its very best! Accompanied by world-class Argentine Tango specialists, let the original Italian stallion take you on a journey to Buenos Aires and enjoy his dancing, tales and poetry about the history of the Argentine Tango.

On Friday 23rd September, The Spa welcome the stylish sophisticated ‘Piccadilly Dance Orchestra’, featuring music from the golden age of the 1920s-40s, as well as some top-drawer jazz, and “hot” dance music! This show features a de-lovely cocktail of great songs by Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, The Gershwin Brothers, Noël Coward and friends. Even if you aren’t familiar with the music, you’ll love its sophisticated and smooth beat, and be amazed how many of these tunes inspired more modern songs.

On Saturday 24th September, The Spa’s very own Patron, international coloratura soprano Christina Johnston, performs an unforgettable night of beautiful live music, featuring arrangements by Matthew Sheeran, and supported by Framlingham College Cantus Choir. This show will feature classics from the West End and Broadway, as well as Christina’s recent chart hits. This promises to be a spectacular event of truly memorable music, celebrating Suffolk’s own ‘Night At The Proms’.

On Sunday 25th September, The Glenn Miller Orchestra bring the very best in wartime charttoppers and hits from the 40s, directed by legendary band leader, Ray McVay. An unforgettable music experience for the whole family, this swinging show will bring the inaugral Suffolk Proms to a close.

So don’t miss out, this September … and watch this space for details of the Suffolk Proms 2023!

The Spa’s aim is to make the Suffolk Proms bigger and better every year, involving a much wider range of content and performers, with much more of an emphasis on local talent – and on giving that talent a big opening, by creating collaborations with established performers, composers and directors. If you’re involved in a local orchestra, choir, musical or dramatic group and would like to be considered for 2023, please get in touch with us as the programme of events for next year will need to be finalised within the next few months.
