Ipswich Venue to Host First Gig in Four Months

Possibly the first Suffolk gig since lockdown began will be hosted by The Smokehouse in Ipswich. A series of socially distanced gigs and pre-recorded performance will be presented at the venue from 11am to midnight on Thursday 9th July.

The event, known as Lock East Live will be streamed online and feature bands and artists from East Anglia. Among those will be the band recently featured on BBC Look East – Anorak Patch.

The eclectic line up will feature hip hop, sludge rock, pop, rap and more.

Included in the lineup thus far:

  • El Emcee
  • Anorak Patch
  • Briti$h
  • Kulk
  • Dusky Sunday
  • Kade
  • Soundscape Green
  • Elephant Jane
  • Elly Tree
  • Amy Milner
  • Hope Ahead
  • Underline The Sky
  • Joe G

The event will be a combination of performances in The Smokehouse (safely distanced) and from artists’ homes! There will also be conversations with industry professionals.

The event represents the first gig at The Smokehouse after a successful Crowdfunder campaign to raise £12k to keep it afloat. The money raised will support the team of freelancers who otherwise may not have survived financially.

The gig will also be raising funds for the Ipswich & Suffolk Council for Racial Equality.
