Janette Manrara and Aljaz Skorjanec promised us a show to ‘Remember the Movies’, and we were certainly treated to a blockbuster night at Ipswich Regent Theatre.
The couple – who have been together as a couple for 9 years, and married for the last 2 – were foot perfect and really engaged with the whole audience last night. Janette wowed us with her balletic dance moves, performed in many beautiful costumes (some incredibly daring) and further thrilled us by singing a couple of live songs herself. The girl can certainly sing!
Aljaz was his usual charming self and a strong lead the whole way through, lifting his pocket-rocket wife with absolute ease into beautiful poses, swirls and drops. There was disco, paso, cha cha cha and lots of wow moments to keep the audience enthralled the whole show through.
The whole shebang was really brought to life by the incredibly talented cast of backing dancers and two fabulous live singers – Damien Edwards and Janine Johnson, both of whom belted out some classics and some new tracks with absolute ease. I’d have happily paid to have just watched the singers – such was their talent – so to have them up on stage alongside the star-spangled dance troupe was just the cherry on the cake!
A shame this wasn’t running for more than one night, as I’d be booking my front row seat all over again if I had the chance.
