Jimmy’s Festival

Our third successive year at Jimmy’s Festival – and we weren’t disappointed.  The organisation is exemplary, from parking the car to getting into the Festival itself – all as smooth as clockwork.

Pitching up in front of the main stage at 11.30 am we’d walked through the “food hall” (lots of different vans serving everything from hot dogs, hog roast, noodles, pizza etc).  There are signs forbidding bringing your own food and drink into the Festival, thereby making these food vans a necessary expense; and expensive they are!  Although all the food we ate (as a family of 3) during the day was delicious it was also a big financial outlay.

The entertainment on the main stage kicked off with Dick & Dom – hilarious double-act who had the crowd eating out of the palm of their hands; very entertaining and, for us, one of the highlights of the day, along with Ben Waters, a most amazing boogie piano player, who has performed with the Rolling Stones, Ray Davies, Chuck Berry, Jools Holland to name but a few.  Matt Cardle (X Factor winner 2010) succeeded in getting lots of “whoops” from the festival goers at the front of the crowd and performed both new and old songs from his repertoire.

Aside from the main stage there was lots going on around the farm, with at least one other musical stage in a different area of the venue.  There was loads for the kids to go – and loads of kids there were too; a real family event.

The day had a fantastic buzz about it and we enjoyed our 9 hrs there soaking up the atmosphere, being entertained and kicking off the start of the School holiday’s in fine form.

Bring on next year!
