Anthony Nolan LIVE: Charity Concert Announced

Fundraising concert Anthony Nolan LIVE is to take place at the New Wolsey Theatre this summer on Sunday 22nd of May at 7pm, in aid of Anthony Nolan.

Hosted by BBC’s Countryfile and The One Show presenter Joe Crowley and produced by Ipswich-based professional dancer, Samuel Biscoe, the concert aims to raise £10,000 for blood cancer charity Anthony Nolan Trust.

The concert itself has a poignant raisin d’etre for producer Samuel as the Anthony Nolan Trust successfully provided Samuel’s father with a transplant after being diagnosed with life threating cancer of the blood, Leukemia, in July 2015. After working as a dancer, singer and Cast Manager for 8 years Samuel quit his job at a cruise line in the United States to come home and support his family after a Skype call telling him of his Dad’s diagnosis while rehearsing in Miami. During 2 rounds of chemotherapy at Ipswich Hospital, Jon Biscoe’s Mother also passed away from the associated disease Myelodysplasia. Jon later received further chemotherapy and a transplant at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge and is now at home recovering from his life saving treatment.

Acts will include: comedian Kim Harrison who is flying in from the US, singers from Wattisham Military Wives Choir, acapella singing group The Testosta Tones who appeared on Britain’s Got Talent in 2012; London-based singer Gemma Kalmakrian; aerial and vaudeville artist Daisy Black; local choir and cancer fundraisers Diamond; East Anglia’s favourite 8-piece band Turntable and a reading from local published author and Leukemia survivor Penny Hemans by actress and donor registered Lorna Garside . More acts are to be announced soon through the concert’s social media channels and website. There will also be an on the night auction of a Helicopter Flight Over London for 3 people, a signed Portman Road street sign from ITFC and other high profile prizes!

Joe Crowley has said about the performance:

“Not only is this going to be a fantastic evening of music and merriment with wonderful acts but this is a unique chance to sit, be entertained and save lives at the same time! Being a hero in Suffolk on a Sunday night has never been easier!”

Stephen Skrypec, Head of Communications at the New Wolsey Theatre says:

“As a charity ourselves, we understand the significance of having support from businesses to be able to fund the work we do throughout the year, and it’s a pleasure to be able to support Sam in true New Wolsey fashion. His ambition to raise £10,000 for the Anthony Nolan Trust through this show is a perfect fit with us and we can’t wait for it!”

You too can help raise awareness for Anthony Nolan by taking part in your own fundraising event, sponsoring the concert or just by simply booking a ticket and enjoying an evening of entertainment!
