This year’s line up is as follows:

Sunday 4th August – The Ipswich Hospital Band

Sunday 11 August – Woodbridge Excelsior Band

Sponsors include: the Greyhound Public House, Woodcock and Son, a generous friend of the park, Gotelee Solicitors LLP, Woodbridge Antiques Centre.

The concerts take place at the arts and crafts shelter in the Upper Arboretum in Christchurch Park, close to the Henley Road entrance.  They are free and start at 2.30pm and end at 4.30pm.

“The Brass on the Grass concerts have become a regular feature of summer Sundays in the Christchurch Park and the Friends are delighted to be putting them on again this year,” comments Peter Gray, the recently appointed Chair of the Friends of Christchurch Park.  He continues:  “The concerts are only possible with the generous sponsorship of Gotelee Solicitors, Woodbridge Antiques Centre, Woodcock and Son Estate Agents and, season sponsors, the Greyhound public house.  We are extremely grateful for their support.”

Concert organiser, Paul Buckley, who once again has pulled the Brass on the Grass series together, comments:  “Some of the top local bands are playing, including many local favourites such as the Ipswich Hospital Band, Martlesham Brass and the Woodbridge Excelsior Band.  This year we are delighted to welcome the Essex Police Band who have played at the Barbican Centre and Wembley Stadium among other top venues.”

The Friends of Christchurch Park are a not-for-profit organization of around 400 members that supports a range of activities within the park.  Not only does it put on the Brass in the Grass concerts, it also helps fund the planting of trees and other plants.  New members are always welcome and they can pick up details at the Reg Driver Centre in the Park, on Facebook @ChristchurchParkIpswich and on Twitter @christchurchpk.
