Graham Parker Heads to The Apex

We heard a Rumour that Graham Parker is coming to The Apex…

Widely regarded for his distinguished and original songwriting, Graham Parker is perhaps best known as lead singer of Graham Parker & The Rumour.

Parker’s energetic performances, along with the wittily class-conscious spirit of his debut album ‘Howlin’ Wind’, preceded the arrival of punk rock and new wave music. His quirky-blue-collar image is often believed to be a major influence on the public persona of many British musicians, most notably Elvis Costello and Paul Weller, while Bruce Springsteen said ‘Howlin Wind’ was a major influence on his own songwriting.

Parker’s career has spanned over 40 years and was recently reinvigorated when acclaimed US film producer and director Judd Apatow cast Parker in his hit film ‘This Is 40’. The film also featured a performance by GP & The Rumour that prompted the band to reform and play a series of come-back concerts.

At The Apex on Tuesday 26 November, Parker will revisit his prodigious catalogue with songs from early albums with the Rumour and his solo career, including picks from the ‘Squeezing Out Sparks 40th anniversary’ acoustic album (released March 2019), and tunes from recent Rumour reunion albums.
