Hitchin Concert Band

On Sunday 19th August at 2.30pm, there will be a special concert at St Andrew’s Church, Rushmere St Andrew, Ipswich which will be given by the Hertfordshire-based Hitchin Concert Band, who are performing a programme of light music ‘for all the family’ in aid of the charity Reaching The Unreached. Here’s an extract from the charity’s website (www.rtu.org.uk):

“Reaching the Unreached is a far-reaching, grassroots organisation working in rural villages in South India to help the poorest and most marginalised people, particularly children and women. As well as providing healthcare, clean water, housing, education and support to disadvantaged families, it cares for 1,000 orphaned or abandoned children, many affected by HIV/AIDS. They live with ‘foster’ mothers in four Children’s Villages, are educated in RTU schools and supported through college until they are young adults able to live independent lives. Founded in 1978, thousands of children have been given hope and opportunities for the future.”

Refreshments are included in the admission price (there are no tickets; just turn up or phone 07702 250123 to reserve a place), which is £10 for adults and £5 for children over 5 years old.
