Joanna Eden Remembers Jo Cox

Essex based singer-songwriter Joanna Eden will perform a marathon weekend of 5 concerts in memory of MP Jo Cox as part of the Great Get Together weekend.

There will be two concerts in Southend at Palace Theatre’s Dixon Studio, as well as one in Joanna’s hometown Saffron Walden and two more in Cambridge.

Joanna is offering two-sides of her songwriting to appeal to the widest possible audience by performing two concerts in one day, on Sunday June 18th at the Dixon Studio in Southend.

The music will start at 3pm with a solo singer/songwriter concert entitled ‘Songs of Unity: for Jo Cox’ , and will continue at 8pm with something a bit naughtier; Joanna and friend Leigh McDonald’s hilarious, Brighton-Fringe-Cabaret-Award-Winning show ‘Mac and Eden’.

The Great Get Together has been launched by friends and family of Jo Cox and they hope that Jo’s memory will bring people together to celebrate what they have in common.

Joanna comments:

“There’s nothing like a beautiful melody or some poignant lyrics  a bit of comedy for bringing people together and reminding people of their shared humanity.  As soon as I heard about The Great Together I knew I had to get involved.  It’s snowballed from that to me performing 5 concerts in 50 hours in 4 locations!  I think I’m going to need a lie down after all that!”

Profits from all five concerts of Joanna’s busy weekend will be going to People In Motion who work with refugees. Joanna has been helping to support them with profits from concerts over the past two years.

Eden has been hitting the headlines recently for being the singing teacher and early influence for one of the worlds biggest recent success stories, Sam Smith… From Rolling Stone Magazine, to CBS News, to perezhilton.com, Joanna’s name has never been quite so widely bandied thanks to a very grateful young singer!

Says Eden:

“My relationship with Sam has been a huge gift to me and watching him rise to where he is gives me so much joy and pride!”

Joanna has supported Jamie Cullum and The Beauna Vista Social Club amongst others, played at venues from The Boisdale to Pizza Express, 606 to The Elgar Rooms at the Royal Albert Hall.

Eden’s songs have been described by Mojo Magazine as  having “melody, mystery and bite”.

With fans including Smith, Jamie Cullum, BBC Arts Editor Will Gompertz and Sir Michael Parkinson, Eden has been described in Time Out as “the UK’s answer to Diana Krall and Norah Jones”.
