Jordan Mackampa

Congo-born, Coventry-based singer Jordan Mackampa announces his new EP ‘Tales From The Broken’ and shares the EP’s first single ‘Saint’, plus there’s a tour to support the release.

An old soul, with an enlightened voice, Jordan Mackampa is a huge talent destined for stardom. The singer returns with his attention-grabbing new single ‘Saint’, which is taken from his forthcoming EP ‘Tales From The Broken’, his infectious, foot-thumping new single is another soul-soaked release that proves Jordan’s undeniable potential. The singer showcases his unique gospel-tinged vocal, paired with irresistible folk-pop instrumentation – delivering a track as delicate as it is powerful and inspiring.

Jordan explains:

‘Saint’ is a song that speaks to a piece of all of us. There isn’t such a thing as good people or bad people in my mind, we’re all complicated and need to accept parts of ourselves that we equally like and dislike. The idea was to draw on the idea of how we are all just trying to figure out a purpose in life and sometimes that leads to something else for guidance.”

Certainly ‘Saint’ has the ability to strike a chord lyrically with most people – who are perhaps haunted by mistakes of bad choices they’ve made in the past – and how we’re all capable of making mistakes.

Speaking a little more on how the song came to be, Jordan added:

“I had the joy of writing this with one of my favourite artists at the moment, Million Miles. She’s extraordinary. She really helped smooth the song out and match what I had in my mind visually and lyrically.”

Often described as a troubadour, Jordan Mackampa is an artist with timeless soul, and lyrics drenched in heart-felt empathy. As a man who was born in Kinshasa, grew up in London and became an artist in Coventry, Jordan’s music is swimming in the sounds and stories of the cities he’s inhabited over the years.

Spending the last 6 months crafting his sound and becoming a mainstay fixture on the live circuit; with upcoming showcases at The Great Escape, Live at Leeds and a full UK kicking off in May, Jordan Mackampa is most certainly cementing himself as a strong contender for 2017.

‘Saint’ is set to follow in the footsteps of his incredible singles ‘Open Arms’ and ‘Midnight’ from his ‘Physics’ EP released last September. Both jazz influenced singles propelled Jordan into the spotlight and gained fans from NME, The Line Of Best Fit, Clash Magazine, Indie Shuffle, The 405 and more. Apple Music also featured both of Jordan’s previous singles in their Best New Artists of The Week section, with BBC Radio 1’s Phil Taggart and Beats 1’s Julie Adenuga supporting.

Jordan’s music unifies his family’s favourites from his Congolese roots, to his mother’s adoration of great divas and his own love for the likes of Matt Crosby, Lianne La Havas and BB King.

The latest single ‘Saint’, and the EP from which its lifted, is a powerful return, cementing the singer as one of 2017’s most exciting new artists with a blossoming future. The single is officially released today, Wednesday 29th March; and the EP is released on May 15th.
