Singer-songwriter Nathan Carter entranced Norwich music lovers with his unique blend of Celtic, country, pop and ballads when he played at the Theatre Royal for the first time in January 2017 – now he returns for a second concert on September 20.
One of the biggest names on the Irish music scene and touring internationally, Nathan attracts huge audiences to his arena gigs in his homeland where he outsold One Direction, Pharrell Williams and Michael Bublé, to become the first country act to reach number one in the Irish charts in 2013 after Garth Brooks six years before.
Since last appearing in Norwich, Nathan and his six-man band have toured around the UK and Ireland and played the London Palladium and Belfast’s SSE Arena, before Nathan jetted off to perform a string of concerts in Melbourne and Sydney. Further international dates are on the calendar for Spain, France and Branson Missouri, while a Scottish tour is planned for the autumn.
The popular performer learned to play the accordion at the age of four years old and as a child was head chorister with the Liverpool Boys’ Choir. He toured the world with the choir and sang at Windsor Castle and for Pope John Paul II in the Vatican. By the time he was 12, Nathan had won two All Ireland medals for his solo performances, and he now has seven studio albums, three live albums and three DVDs under his belt, as well as hosting The Nathan Carter Show on Irish television.
Although he was catapulted to fame with his cover of the Bob Dylan single Wagon Wheel, it’s his self-penned songs like Temple Bar and Skinny Dippin’ that have earned him a reputation as the hottest name in country and Irish music for introducing a younger, hipper audience to the joys of Irish country.
