OEP Live! at The Apex

OEP Live! are pleased to present the following shows to The Apex, Bury St Edmunds in November/December 2017:

On Tuesday 28th November, 1.15pm, SINCERELY YOURS – THE VERA LYNN STORY heads to The Apex.

Her fresh-faced girl next-door looks made Vera Lynn one of the darlings of the British Forces during the Second World War. Her greatest wartime hits were undoubtedly The White Cliffs of Dover and We’ll Meet Again although there are of course many more. Vera Lynn possessed a broad, sincere smile enduring herself to a generation of airmen, seamen and soldiers with an affection that did not wane after the war.

Endorsed by Dame Vera Lynn herself, SINCERELY YOURS – The VERA LYNN STORY will take you through the amazing life of the forces sweetheart. With video screen footage and a 7-piece live band, the show will transport the audience back to the 1940’s complete with a special guest appearance of George Formby act.

Vera Lynn is portrayed by multi-award winning artiste Lorrie Brown, who was invited to meet Dame Vera, who congratulated and endorsed this show.

Also on Tuesday 28th November, but at 7.30pm – GO WEST will be taking to the stage.

The album ‘Go West’ sold 2 million copies worldwide and remained on the UK chart for 83 weeks. This established Go West as one of the finest song-writing partnerships to emerge in the 80s.

Peter Cox and Richard Drummie first met in 1974. They signed as songwriters with ATV Music in 1982 and as recording artists, Go West, with Chrysalis Records two years later.

Their debut single ‘We Close Our Eyes’ reached number 5 in the UK charts and became a top 10 hit in the USA. This ‘overnight’ success was followed by three further UK top 10 hits – ‘Call Me’, ‘Goodbye Girl’ and ‘Don’t Look Down’. In 1986 they won the BRIT Award for ‘Best British Newcomer’.

Six albums and 20 million sales later, Go West are stronger than ever. They have enjoyed numerous chart singles worldwide, notably ‘King Of Wishful Thinking’, the opening song in the extremely successful film ‘Pretty Woman’.

Go West have played live around the world continuously since their inception, and saw out 2016 with a hugely successful UK tour with 80s contemporaries Nik Kershaw and T’Pau, playing to 32 packed houses. They have certainly earned their reputation as an outstanding, exciting live act.

Plus, all ticket holders to the Go West concert at The Apex in Bury St Edmunds on Tuesday 28 November will each receive a signed Commemorative Certificate, signed by the original members Peter Cox and Richard Drummie, confirming you have attended their ’35 years on the road’ extra special concert.

RAYMOND FROGGATT’S CHRISTMAS SHOW will take place Tuesday 5th December, 1.30pm.

Froggie (as he is affectionately known) has spent 50 years treading the boards, writing and singing songs that have been covered by so many other major artists.

There are not many artists that Froggie has not written for or recorded with, including the legendary Isaac Hayes and Sir Elton John. He was songwriter for Sir Cliff Richard for ten years, and the Dave Clark Five had a massive hit covering one of Froggie’s compositions ‘In and out of the Red Balloon’.

Raymond Froggatt writes and sings his own songs mesmerising his audience, making them laugh with one of his many stories, or cry with emotion with a song that touches the heart like no other. Being in the audience with Raymond Froggatt and his band is magical.

Later that evening, Tuesday 5th December, 7.30pm, CHAS & DAVE will bring you the history of Chas & Dave in one special show, with their greatest hits and more!

Due to public demand here they are once more…over the past two years they have had a new hit album ‘That’s What Happens’ on Warner Brothers Record, headlined The Royal Variety Show, sold out The Royal Albert Hall, performed an arena tour with Status Quo and performed at the VE Day Concert which was televised on the BBC.

Chas & Dave are still selling out theatres all over the UK. They know how to give an audience a good time, performing all the hits that made this Cockney duo famous including ’Gertcha’, ‘Sideboard Song’, ‘Rabbit’, ‘Aint No Pleasing You’, ’Margate’, and many more.

2016 saw their new album, ‘Not Just Anuvver Beano’, out on Cooking Vinyl Label, which was filmed and recorded at the Hammersmith Apollo in December 2015. The album also features a brand new studio recording of the track ‘One Fing ‘n’ Anuvver’ which was originally on their debut album 40 years ago. They will also have support from The Jackie Lynton Band.

Finally on Sunday 10th December, 1.45pm – enjoy the 60’s HITS & LAUGHTER CHRISTMAS SPECIAL.

Come and join us for a one-off Christmas Matinee Special with three legendary 60s Acts. The show opens with The Tornados, followed by The Foundations and Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich close the show!

The Tornados will feature the original 1960s Tornados organist, Dave Watts, but today The Tornados employ some of the best UK musicians to carry the legend forward and creating a beat stomping show that does not disappoint.

The Foundations are giving us an exclusive chance to see a legendary show, led by original lead guitarist/vocalist Alan Warner. They deliver a fast-paced, exciting show, packed with hits including, ‘Baby Now That I’ve Found You’ and ‘Build Me Up Buttercup’, as well as rarer numbers from the original group’s catalogue.

The multi-platinum hit-makers Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich make a rare, exclusive appearance! The show closes with hits including ‘Hold Tight’, ‘Hideaway’, ‘Bend It’, and ‘Save Me’.
