Pulling Pints for Charity

Businesses in Ipswich are supporting a local charity by pulling pints at a beer festival. Home-Start in Suffolk put a call-out for support behind the bar at Saints Maritime Beer & Cider Festival, taking place this coming weekend, and the request has been enthusiastically met by businesses including Fleximize and Ipswich Round Table.

The festival, which is being held at St. Peters By The Waterfront, Ipswich from 18-20 August, will feature live music, street food and, of course, lots of beer.

Event organiser Greg Cooper of Beer&Co said:

We have so many brilliant local event partners and are really pleased to be able to support one of these – Home-Start in Suffolk – in raising funds for the amazing work that they do with local families. We had a feeling that local businesses would be keen to be a part of this effort and that working behind the bar would be a fun way for them to do it!

Peter Tuvey, managing director of Fleximize, which is providing 12 employees to pour pints at the festival, said:

“We didn’t have to think twice about lending our support to the festival. It’s been met with a lot enthusiasm by the team here at Fleximize. Greg has organised a brilliant event, and I’m a huge admirer of the important work that Home-Start in Suffolk does for families in the region.”

Ipswich Round Table has also volunteered its services. Chairman Tony Cheung said: “We are really looking forward to volunteering at the Maritime Beer & Cider Festival. When I started to find out about all the desperate support needed by people in our local community that Home Start in Suffolk help with, it made our decision to help very easy.”

Doors open at 12noon on each of the Festival dates (18-20 Aug). Last orders are 11pm except Sunday (9pm).
Entry is £3 – except for a special opening period between 12-2pm on Friday, when entry is FREE (donations accepted of course).
