Sam Piha & Louise Garner

Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds is delighted to be presenting another diverse range of Lunchtime Concerts in the spring season, starting with Sam Piha and Louise Garner on Mon 5 Feb, 1.10pm.

Returning from thrilling cruise ship audiences worldwide, Sam (guitar) and Louise (flute) have ‘run aground’ again, just long enough to launch their first CD of Sam’s own music at this concert.

International guitarist and composer Sam Piha studied Classical Guitar at London College of Music, while there he also studied the Electric Guitar and helped to set up Haringey music workshop. Sam has a large catalogue of compositions and arrangements including songs for stage productions, the theme to a BBC radio programme and ‘Malaguena’ which was used in the award-winning 2015 film Joy, starring Robert de Niro and Jennifer Lawrence.

Louise began playing at the age of five when her brother taught her the recorder, moving quickly through the whole recorder family she then, at eleven chose the flute as her preferred instrument. At that time she was also offered a dance scholarship but chose to follow a career in music. Early performances with the local youth orchestra enabled Louise to progress to solo and small ensemble work.

The pair will take to the stage to play a selection of Sam’s compositions, tickets are £8.50 each and there will also be complimentary tea, coffee and cakes served in the Greene Room Bar after the performance.

The Lunchtime Concerts are sponsored by Gross & Co Solicitors in association with ArtsOptions and we are very grateful for their continued support.
