Valerie Reid Joins The Bury Bach Choir

International opera star, Valerie Reid (mezzo-soprano) will be coming to Bury St Edmunds (St Edmundsbury Cathedral) on 14th May to join the Bury Bach Choir and Prometheus Orchestra under the baton of Philip Reed, in a performance of Elgar’s Sea Pictures and The Music Makers. The concert is being held in recognition of the Queen’s 90th birthday. In addition to the two Elgar works that are only rarely heard in the town, the choir will also be singing three works with direct royal associations – Benjamin Britten’s wonderful setting of the National Anthem,  Parry’s I was glad, an anthem sung at all coronations, and Bring us, O Lord God, by William Harris, who for many years was the organist and master of music at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle and the piano teacher of the young Princess Elizabeth.
