“WHOLE LOTTA SHAKIN'”Rebel Dean performs the hits of Shakin’ Stevens in a tribute to the 80’s Legend.

The first and only theatre touring show celebrating the rise to fame and music of Shakin’ Stevens ending in a concert he would have performed in the late 80’s.

The first half follows the steps to stardom of the young Welshman, through his early songs with his first band – The Sunsets, recording studio’s, foreign tours, “ELVIS THE MUSICAL” and finally the “Oh Boy” television series. Narrated on-screen by his first manager Paul Barratt.

The second half is a full concert (including the famous denims and pink jacket) as would have been seen during the late 80’s including all the hits “Green Door”, “This ole House”, “Oh Julie”,”You drive me Crazy” and many more.

Rebel said:

” I first wrote the show back in 1998 when I was starring in The West End for the legendary producer Bill Kenwright in a very successful musical called “4 Steps to Heaven”. I was about to star as Elvis in “Elvis the Musical” for Bill Kenwright straight after that on a UK tour and thought there have been musicals about Buddy Holly,Roy Orbison,Elvis and others, but none for our homegrown Welsh rocker! I have been so busy touring 200 shows a year with other shows, making albums, videos and featuring in films (see www.rebeldean.com) to actually get around to making the dream a reality, until now.

I was lucky enough to meet Shakin’ Stevens in 2000 and was always a big fan. He seemed like a very nice man when I met him which fuelled my idea even more. As he had more hits in the 80’s decade than any other artist in the UK, approaching 40 top 40 hits, there is a wonderful collection of songs to draw on that will have the memories flooding back for those of us who lived through that 80’s-90’s era.

I’ve had over the years so many people say how similar we are on stage and even his family complimented me when we played Cardiff’s St.Davids Hall, similarly when I met them afterwards.”

The band includes: Steve Evans – Drums, Sean McBride -Sax, Marcus Feldman -Double Bass, Brad Jones – Lead Guitar and Cody Lee Smart – Piano.

Having toured the World’s top theatre’s for most of his professional life, Rebel has played live to over 1,000,000 people and is a consummate performer in his own right.

There has never been a theatre show celebrating the 40 hits of the most successful rocker of the 80’s until now, so come join us on this rockin’ trip down memory lane, whether you’re young or old!
