Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds is delighted to announce that JAYNIC, land and business space developers, are to become a major sponsor of Theatre Royal. This sponsorship announcement marks the beginning of a three-year association with Theatre Royal.
The Theatre Royal is at the very heart of Bury St Edmunds and Suffolk’s cultural offering, both as a community theatre and heritage site. This new sponsorship provides long-term support for the organisation and its work, strengthening the existing much valued and long-term sponsorship support it already receives from local companies across the region.
As a registered charity, 17% of Theatre Royal’s income comes from private support, via sponsorship, individual giving, funding from trusts and foundations and fundraising events. This income stream is crucial to the survival of Theatre Royal now more than ever, after 14 months of closure.
JAYNIC is an established property company that specialises in promoting land for residential and employment development predominantly in East Anglia. In Suffolk its developments include Suffolk Park in Bury St Edmunds, EpiCentre Innovation Centre in Haverhill and the new major Gateway14 mixed use park in Stowmarket.
Managing Director, Nic Rumsey is pleased that the new sponsorship agreement will help the theatre to recover, “JAYNIC is proud to be principal sponsor of the Theatre Royal at a time when it has never been more important to support local and regional communities where the arts play a vital part. There can have been no greater loss to the communal vitality of Bury St Edmunds and its surrounding region than when the lights went out in the first pandemic lockdown a year ago, for all forms of entertainment including theatres, museums and art galleries. We are delighted that, 14 months on, the theatre is alive and well with an exciting programme of events already in the diary for the coming year.”
He feels strongly about the preservation of historic buildings like Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds “The Theatre Royal is an historic building within Bury St Edmunds that not only adds to the aesthetics and cultural values of the area but also creates a stronger bond with our past and attracts more people to the area. Preserving the theatre is beneficial not only for a community’s culture and heritage, but also for its local economy. As a developer JAYNIC is creating new buildings, mainly for commercial use, in Bury St Edmunds, Haverhill, Stowmarket and other Suffolk locations but we appreciate the need to protect historic buildings and what goes on in them.”

These projects allow us to make theatre accessible for disabled people, those with mental health problems, young people at risk, senior citizens, those in rural communities or those simply unable to access theatre and the arts.”
