Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds is delighted to welcome high-energy string quartet Bowjangles to the theatre, with their most magical show so far, a theatrical musical journey through myths, folklore, legends and a portal in a cello case in Excalibow (Fri 6 Mar).
Take part in the quest to find the most priceless relic of all – a magical violin bow known as Excalibow. You can expect tales of monsters, ancient gods, historical figures and characters of pure fantasy in this action-packed show, all presented in Bowjangles’ own inimitable and unique style. Full of comedy, energy, and almost every musical genre you can imagine, the show is suitable for all ages but may contain traces of ABBA.
Bowjangles are a singing, dancing, comedy, cabaret, variety, theatrical string quartet. In their own words: ‘it’s REALLY DIFFICULT to describe what we do’. They have travelled the world extensively, performing in theatres and halls, at arts festivals and street festivals, in schools, hospitals, the occasional prison and even in a forest in the dead of night. In 2018 they won the ‘Spirit of the Fringe’ award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and in 2019 they were nominated for the Rural Touring Awards ‘Best Performance’.
Excalibow is the newest show from the group, following previous productions: Bowlympics – their first to bring their musical performances together in an overarching thread; On The Box – their version of a morning TV show complete with cooking segments, news, weather and a late night horror film; and A ChristmasH Carol – mashing up Dickens and pantomime dames.
Excalibow is at Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds for one night only, Fri 6 Mar at 7.30pm. Tickets are on sale via the Box Office, call 01284 769505, book online at www.theatreroyal.org/bowjangles-presents-excalibow or visit the theatre in person.
