Closing the fabulous Newmarket Nights 2016 season, were X Factor winners and twice Brit Award nominated Little Mix (aka; Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jesy Nelson).
Hitting the stage for their “GET WEIRD” tour, in glittery one pieces and with a troupe of male backing dancers in tow, the girls delivered a string of hit songs from their three albums; DNA, Salute and Get Weird.
They delighted fans, young and old with such hits as: Grown, Hair, Wings, Love Me Like you, Secret Love Song and a brilliant medley of Jump On It / Crazy In Love / Where Are Ü Now / Fester Skank / Ring The Alarm. All this followed by my personal favourite Salute (which has been blasting all day long in the House of Tranquil Soul causing major ear-worms!)
Sexy dance routines gave way to happy smiles, as they wandered the stage waving endlessly to very young fans, which form a large part of their loyal fan base. At the end of the day they are incredibly likeable and incredibly good…
Fact: I am neither a fan of X Factor nor manufactured pop bands but I entered the Little Mix arena with an open mind and any doubts, or preconceptions I may have had were quickly laid to rest. These girls can deliver the goods, with strong solos, powerful harmonies and a tireless dance show; this is not just another girl band. Little Mix has succeeded where many have failed. They are a worldwide phenomenon who managed to crack the US market; the first girl group since The Pussycat Dolls to reach the US top 5 with their debut album, as well as earning the highest debut US chart position by a British girl group. Kudos ladies, you deserve it!
