Shakespeare In The Park

Bury Theatre Workshop’s ‘Shakespeare In The Park 2017’ is “As You Like It” by William Shakespeare.

“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts, His acts being seven ages”.

This year’s ‘Shakespeare in the Park’ production sets too entertain you with a comic tale exploring a beguiling game of love, lust and mistaken identity.

Jealously has led Duke Ferdinand to usurp his brother and now he banishes his niece, who runs off disguised as ‘Ganymede’ with her cousin and the court fool to the forest of Arden, home to many including her exiled father.  Unluckily for her love, Orlando, his brother is plotting against him and he also flees to the forest. Hilarity ensues in the forest as shepherd Silvius suffers unrequited love for Phoebe, who has fallen for ‘Ganymede’, on whom Orlando is practising his wooing skills in order to prove his love all whilst Touchstone is pursuing the goat-herd Audrey, and morose Jaques is moping about with the exiled Duke Senior and his lords. Will they ever sort the entanglements of who loves who out? Will everyone have a happy ending? Will Duke Ferdinand get his comeuppance? Will Orlando and his brother be reconciled?
