Steve Knightley at The Cut

Steve Knightley, songwriter and frontman of top English folk-roots heavyweights Show of Hands, brings his 2018 Songs & Stories tour to The Cut, Halesworth on Thursday 8th March.

With an impressive back catalogue, Steve Knightley is regularly cited by emerging artists as a source of inspiration. But who has ignited and fuelled Knightley’s creative spark throughout his decades of craftsmanship?

His 2018 solo tour seeks to answer that question. The set list will be peppered with his now-classic gems such as ‘Cousin Jack’, ‘AIG’ and ‘Country Life’ but in a rare glimpse into his personal playlist, Knightley will also be paying tribute to artists such as Dylan, Carthy, Bowie, Springsteen, Tull and Radiohead, all of whom have influenced him greatly along the way.

Steve Knightley’s enduring appeal is partly because he is at home in a local folk club as he is gracing the stage of a sell-out Royal Albert Hall concert. The Show of Hands fan base extends to luminaries such as Peter Gabriel, who has described them as ‘one of the great English bands’. With his song-writing and commentary more razor-sharp and relevant than ever, Knightley continues to remain at the cutting-edge of folk, roots and acoustic music.

Steve says,

“The 2018 solo tour gives me an excuse to bring out songs from some of my favourite artists, and also to share plenty stories of life on the road – both usually reserved for late nights around a campfire.”

Starting at the very beginning, Steve takes the audience on a winding musical adventure, documenting his career and throwing in plenty of stories and good humour along the way.

Concert starts at 7.30 pm.  Tickets £18 form The Cut box office on 03003 033 211 and on-line at newcut.org/events
