The Buildy-uppy Dance Show

BUILD CARDBOARD CASTLES AND MAKE MISCHIEF ON STAGE WITH THE BUILDY-UPPY DANCE SHOW THIS NOVEMBER.

DanceEast’s Autumn season would not be complete without something magical for children. Friday 17 and Saturday 18 November will see Anatomical’s The Buildy-uppy Dance Show descend on Ipswich, the humorous sequel to Tom Roden and Anna Williams’ The Doodle Dance Show performed at the Jerwood DanceHouse in 2015.

Commissioned by DanceEast, The Buildy-uppy Dance Show will let audience’s imaginations run riot as hundreds of cardboard boxes are stacked, squashed and rebuilt to build caves, castles and creatures. It is a show for all the family to join in the construction, learning that together the strongest thing that can be built is friendship, led by the award-winning Tom and Anna. Together the pair form Anatomical.

This interactive theatrical adventure is the perfect family treat, a magical, musical ever-changing playground constructed and inhabited by its audience. It is a space for children to be children, and for grown-ups to be children too, in which a magical journey unfolds for two friends, telling the story of their adventures in a small village on a mountain. In a mix of storytelling, dance, and audience participation, the story comes to life as the audience builds, re-builds, explores and dances.

The Buildy-uppy Dance Show is a participatory theatre experience for children and adults. Children under 5 will need to be closely supervised (Suitable for age 4+ years ideally). Please come in shoes and clothes you can move around in.

See The Buildy-uppy Dance Show on Friday 17 November, 1.30pm and Saturday 18 November, 11.00am & 2.30pm at DanceEast, Jerwood DanceHouse, Ipswich.
